The panels will be auctioned on May 1st.

The panelling from two luxurious lounge rooms on the Britannic will take centre stage on day one of this historic two-day auction at the Heritage Hotel, Killenard, on May 1-2.

Britannic’s yard number, S-433, was one of the most significant identifying factors in these panels.

As a tribute to this oceanic liner and the history of these panels, 433 will also be the auction number for the panelling.

Lot 433 is the second-class library, panelled and framed in maple, handsomely carved in a Colonial Adams-style design, circa 26 square meters, and includes a magnificent mahogany bar fronted with copper with a guiding price of €200,000 – €300,000.

Lot 433a is the first-class lounge panelling, framed in richly carved polished oak and carved in Louis XV style, circa 65 square meters, with a guiding price of €250,000 – €350,000.

The oak had been seasoned for at least 35 years before manufacture, dating it back at least to 1877.

The full maple panelling has been painstakingly removed from Dublin and reassembled at the auction site so the general public can enjoy the luxury of this rich piece of history.

We also removed two of the significant oak panels so the viewing public can get a sense of the quality and greater size proportion of the oak compared to the maple.

These panels can be viewed at the auction site:
